General Election Cattle Call, May 24

Posted by Chris Bowers

(5/23 numbers in parenthesis)

National Two-Party Vote Projection
Kerry: 52.0 (51.9)
Bush: 48.0 (48.1)
Status: Lean Kerry

Electoral Vote Projection
Kerry: 320 (311)
Bush: 218 (227)
States Changing hands: Bush wins IA, Kerry wins FL, MO, NH, NV and OH

Im going to step out of myself for a moment and go ahead and call the election for Kerry. I will continue these projections, and I could end up looking like an idiot, but I really believe all evidence points to a huge victory for Kerry.

But, the good numbers don't mean we should lighten up the pressure. We need to turn it up! .. so that the margin is even wider! Get all of your friends and neighbors and co-workers involved so that there's a clear message sent on November 2nd.

I hope you are right about this. But, since most people aren't even paying attention to politics now. I thinkn that things will change somewhat between now and november.

Have you ever predicted one of these before???If you are predicting a win for JK, do you think we will take back the house???

I was reading something just yesterday about how tired swing state voters are of hearing about the campaign and being subjected to a barrage of ads. Therefore, in states that still haven't been decided, voters probably are fairly aware of politics now.

However, I agree that it's too early to make a prediction. There's a lot of time left and I expect there are plenty of surprises left to come.

Why is it that on coservative/Republican/Bush websites they are predicting a victory for Bush, whereas on liberal/Democrat/Kerry sites, the prediction is for Kerry? And not only that, but these sites proclaim not just a victory, but a "landslide" for their respective candidates? Not saying I don't believe you and your methodology... but it can't be a landslide victory for both if you get my point!

Any objective reading of the current polls shows that Kerry is ahead.I don't know of any liberal web site predicting a landslide. Conservatives predict wrong things because they are ALWAYS wrong. I.E. ( Cutting taxes will eliminate the budget defecit etc,) That's why they are Republicans. They are stupid, ignoraant, and Bigoted.

Kate,

Actually, conservative websites who do actual analysis seem to be projecting Kerry ahead by even more than I am. Check this one out:

That guy that does the "Election Projection" site is indeed very conservative, and he is also really fair in crunching the numbers. I check this site and that one every day and they agree...
