New Guest Poster for Arkansas, LiberalAce
Posted by DavidNYCLiberalAce, a denizen of Arkansas and frequent commenter around these parts, is joining the SSP team. Naturally, he'll be reporting on what's happening in the home state of my favorite living president, William Jefferson "Big Dog" Clinton. So give him a warm welcome, and also check out his blog, Political Bytes.

LiberalAce, what do you think of Wes Clark for VP?

Bring Clinton into the fray in Arkansas? Why not? Have heard many politicos lately pushing the theory that the voters are divided 45-45-10; the theory being that there is not enough of a swing vote contingent to make it worth the effort--the best you can do is GOTV in your base.
I share the view of a government professor of mine who stated that the two best pure politicians of the 20th century were Teddy Roosevelt and Bill Clinton. The theory is that there are those that really, really hate Clinton, but they can only hate him one vote at a time, while having him there energizes our base and gets people off their ass and to the polls. Seems too we would be playing with house money as we are not really expected to win there anyway.
VP-anyone other than Edwards would be a mistake. He has the passion personability that makes him an excellent campainger. And-I don't mean this jokingly either-he has nice hair, the kind my grandmother votes for. Has working poor issues covered, could actually get some of them to register and get them to the polls. Will make a great President in 2012.

Thanks for the introduction David! Sorry it's taken a while to respond, but I'm reporting from the grassy knoll in Dallas, TX (well, not actually the grassy knoll, but I did visit it today.)
Hellraiser, I've been an admirer of Wesley Clark for a long time and had often wished he would run for President. On a personal level, I'd love to see Clark as VP, since we both graduated from the same high school. However, like many people, I don't think Clark was very impressive on the campaign trail. Though he had plenty of time to prepare, he seemed as if he'd awoke one morning and decided to run at the last second.
I'm guessing that Clark isn't being given serious consideration for VP. John Edwards seems like a better choice to me. However, I hope that Clark will be given serious consideration for a post in a Kerry Administration. Clark has been supportive of Kerry all along, and between him and Clinton, I hope they'll deliver Arkansas to Kerry.
But should Kerry name Clark as his running mate, it wouldn't bother me any. Although Clark may not be a great politician, I think he would serve the country well as the VP. He's intelligent, has a good understanding of economics, and has an excellent understanding of foreign policy.
I think Clark also has major backing from one of Arkansas' largest companies (Acxiom), which would probably be of great help. If he were named Kerry's running mate, I believe Arkansas would go to Kerry, but I'm not sure if that's a real possibility or if Clark would accept if offered (I suspect he would.)
