Feingold Offically Weighing Run
Posted by Tim TagarisOfficially ending the speculation about the speculation.
U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., told the Tiger Bay Club of Volusia County [Florida] on Friday that he'll decide whether to run after "going around the country" working to return a Democrat to the White House.
More later (I am at work). For now, your thoughts on the article and/or a Feingold run?

I wonder if Feingold cast his vote against Gonzalez for the same apparent reason Bayh cast his vote against Rice: He doesn't want to anger the base. At the very least, it helps to neutralize his past vote for Ashcroft.
That said, I know a lot of netroots types love Feingold, but I wonder if his "maverick" streak might nonetheless piss likely supporters off.

I'd love a Feingold candidacy. He's a real progressive, but his ability to vote on principle rather than party lines will sell well even in conservative areas, as shown by his impressive performance in 2004.

I like Feingold but the fact that he has no exec experience hurts him like it hurt Edwards.
