Reid's War Room and bloggers
Posted by Bob BrighamThe Boston Globe has an article on the Senate Democrats new agenda and War Room where it is noted, "The center has an aide dedicated to getting information to Democratic-leaning bloggers and yesterday launched a website, democrats.gov, to better communicate the positions of Senate Democrats."
Positive reinforcement time: Thank you Senator Reid for your leadership in waging online politics, I appreciate your dedication to winning the information war. Please note the five posts yesterday. I look forward to furthering this partnership.

And yet they keep this aide's identify a secret. Strange.

Another opportunity I didn't act on quick enough...
I am glad they did this, and positive reinforcement is in order. However, I wish it a "staffer" and not an "aide." He/she needs a seat the table as well.
And speaking of he/she, I wonder who it is as well.

The magic of "old technology."
I placed a call to Senator Reid's office. After several forwardings, I was told the person's name is Avi Rabin-Havt and his email address is:
avi.rabin-havt@reid.senate.gov
(yes that is a dash not an underscore, or so the lady told me).
I have sent Avi an email introducing myself and the project I and others are working on.

Ari worked John Kerry's campaign on the netroots outreach team. He did a lot of the blogging alongside Dick Bell.

What do you think of him? I'll be curious to see what form this outreach will take. Frankly in Ohio, I'm more interested in information and support from DCCC since we have several possible targets in 2006 in house races. Right now the Senate is looking cloudy.

I don't know much about Ari. All I know is that he did some blogging for the Kerry campaign.
Were I hiring for the position, I would look at 3 things:
1.) The ability to spread a message virally throughout the netroots
2.) Someone who has a good relationship with left-blogging netroot opinion leaders.
3.) Good writing skills
I can only speak to number 3 for Ari. I enjoyed what I read on the Kerry blog. As for 1 & 2, I have no idea.
