MT-Gov: Brian Schweitzer's First Pardon
Posted by Bob BrighamMISSOULA - Gov. Brian Schweitzer exercised his pardon power for the first time Friday, forgiving a Missoula couple for colliding with his unmarked Montana Highway Patrol car in the parking lot of the city's newspaper."I've met Montanans in bars, restaurants and on the street," said Schweitzer. "This is the first time I've met a Montanan because he ran into me." [...]
After the vehicles bumped, causing no damage, Schweitzer said he realized he could grant pardons and sent the couple on their way.
This is yet another reason why Schweitzer is popular from Ekalaka to Eureka (in Montana) and across the country. Schweitzer doesn't wait to poll before acting, he just does the right thing and goes about the rest of his day.
