OH-2: Hackett Calls out Chickenhawks

Posted by Tim Tagaris

From Salon:

"Schmidt commends Hackett for his service, but believes Hackett should "stand with the president" by 'supporting the Iraqi war effort and our troops that are over there,' her campaign manager Joe Braun said. (Through Braun, Schmidt declined to speak with Salon.) When asked to answer that charge, Hackett is blunt: 'The only way I know how to support the troops is by going over there.' He doesn't hesitate to criticize Schmidt's support of the war: "All the chicken hawks back here who said, 'Oh, Iraq is talking bad about us. They're going to threaten us' -- look, if you really believe that, you leave your wife and three kids and go sign up for the Army or Marines and go over there and fight. Otherwise, shut your mouth."
This is what happens when the GOP faces opposition like it hasn't seen in over 30 years.

Did you hear Sloan on WLW yesterday? He was talking crap about Hacketts service to the country too! WLW owes every man & women in uniform an apology!

This is absolutely pathetic. It is showing the true colors of the cover our asses at all cost money hungry hypocrits in this district.

Believe me... this is not over by a long shot... Hey, If Jean Schmidt can boycott The March of Dimes that look for a cure for children then I say we boycott WLW and all their sponsors until an open air apology is made to everyone in uniform and to Paul Hackett who has risen to the call to serve our country.

This act of treason by WLW is unforgivable until they ask for forgiveness. I will be listening to their sponsors today! Update tomorrow.

God Bless Paul hackett for his call to serve in Iraq!

Thanks,

Tim

On Monday, July 25th, 2005, WLW’s Scott Sloan went into a large diatribe about Paul Hackett’s service to our nation. He then began to speak about what we need to do in Iraq. He also spoke about everything that needed to be done. I would also like to mention that Sloan mentioned the flag burning in Fairfield, Ohio. He mentioned who it was because of the people that don’t agree with the war in Iraq. I wish I could exactly quote him but this is what he was talking about.

Then a caller came and began talking about Iraq. The caller said that he wasn’t a Major in the Marines in Iraq and so he really didn’t have the experience to say what needed to be done over there. Sloan then agreed with the caller but cut the caller off after the caller reminded Sloan that Sloan was not a Major in the Marines that served in Iraq either but that Hackett is.

Sloan immediately cut the caller off and began blaming the democrats for a set up. He went again into another diatribe about Hackett and using his service for political purposes.

A women then called and she called Hackett a name I wish not to repeat. Sloan never once disagreed with her and pretty much agreed with everything she was saying.

I couldn’t understand why Sloan would think this way. Hackett rejoined the military way before Portman was ever mentioned as being President’s Choice for Trade Representative, which opened the seat for the 2nd District of the House of Representatives. Only after Hackett was back home did decide to run for the vacancy, which wasn’t there before he left. He then tied the flag burning in with his attack against Hackitt.

Oh and about the flag burning incident… Recently a soldier was killed in the Cincinnati area. Small flags were placed lining his driveway and someone took the flags and placed them under the family car. The flags were then lit on fire and the car went up into flames with them. I would also like to mention that this happened in the 1st District of Ohio where Mr. Chabot (R) holds the seat, not the 2nd District where Mr. Hackitt (D) is running for office. Sloan mentioned that it was because of the people that question the war in Iraq that the flag burning happened. The police thing it was a kid prank gone bad.

It is sad that Sloan wraps the actions of the 1st District in Ohio with Paul Hackett’s service in Iraq. The people that question the war are usually pretty good people that wonder if offering their children to die in Iraq is the right thing to do. I have a son that will be 18 in a few years, you don’t think that I wonder about his future over there? I must wonder if our country is doing the right thing.

Mr. Sloan, Mr. Cunningham (It was his show), and WLW owe Hackett and all people in uniform an apology! Hackett was a Major in the Marines, I would have hoped that Sloan and the radio station, WLW, would have wanted to defend that honor that he is entitled to! And in saying that I boycott your sponsors and call on others to do the same…

Call WLW and sound on this issue at 513-749-7000

And keep calling -- It will clog their caller line with only Hackett Supporters! and tell them that is Jean Schmidt can boycott The March Of Dimes then we too can Boycott WLW and their sponsors until they apologize to Major Paul Hackett!
