OH-02: Swing State Project
Posted by Bob BrighamTim Tagaris is driving, I'm riding shotgun -- full on Swing State Project mobile. We're setting up our Election Protection War Room. With all of the bullshit the Jean Schmidt campaign has been doing, you can never be too careful.
Tagaris is talking with the blogfather as we speak, laughing about Charlie Cook. Tonight should be quite a night, we'll keep you posted...
UPDATE: (Bob) Tagaris called the chase car and told them to flash their headlights if they get uncomfortable with our speed -- we're flying. The turnout in African American precincts is looking really good.
UPDATE: (Bob) The Swing State Project National Affairs desk has been set up on the 19th floor. Tonight, we'll have both live coverage as things come in along with information from Hackett and staff.
Jerome Armstrong has the handicap.
Polls close at 7:30, you can get results here.

Since the OH-02 Campaign is giving us such a warm and fuzzy, giving mood. How do we support Swing State Project?
You can't be doing this for free. Servers cost something.
Thanks for bringing us all the updates on this site and dKos.

I've heard of exit polls showing Hackett down by one, but there's a reason I'm posting it in the comments and the the front page...

I am glad the African-American precincts are generating large numbers of votes. I recall relating my experiences with the GOTV push me and my Berkeley colleagues pulled off for the Landrieu 1996 campaign in Baton Rouge to one of the staffers in the Downtown Cincinnati office. I do not know if they followed my advice, but it is guaranteed to give Hackett the last minute support he will need.

SI Conservative,
How can you or anyone still support someone who thinks George W. Bush hasn't made any mistake? After it has become common knowledge Bush lied ON PURPOSE about WMDs?
How can you support someone who wears a photo of a US soldier for exploitation, then turns around and degrades the service of another US soldier? Shameful behavior.
How can you support tax cuts during war time - when that is something that has NEVER happened before? Tell me exactly how that helps our troops? Not only are we are so far in the red already because of tax cuts for the rich that it'll take YEARS to balance the budget, but because of those tax cuts our soldiers aren’t getting the necessary equipment they desperately need.
While you shouldn't vote for Paul Hackett just because he is an Iraq vet - but at the very least Jean Schmidt shouldn't be telling lies about his service. The only reason someone would do that is because they fear they can't win on their own merits.
How can you support someone who lied about a simple thing like knowing Tom Noe? If she'll lie about that - then no telling what she'll lie about. She's tied to the Coingate corruption.
For the life of me, I'll never understand how, after seeing Paul and Jean side-by-side, hearing them speak, and studying their backgrounds - you can say Jean Schmidt is the better candidate.
I wouldn't trust Jean Schmidt to cut my grass much less to fight for me in Congress - maybe for big business - but not for me.
Paul Hackett has proven himself in battle and he went TO WAR for me and every other American. I think that shows a strong desire to serve.
I don't think he sounds like a Democrat - or a Republican. He sounds like an ordinary individual - like you or me. He’s someone who will hold OUR interests at heart and not big business or corporations.
He's someone who will vote in the House according to his district's interests and NOT follow ANY party line - Republican OR Democrat.
No one can say the same about Jean Schmidt - every time she opened her mouth she sounded like the GOP talking points - word for word.
Jean Schmidt has shown this past few weeks and days that she's will do anything sneaky to win. While on the other hand, Paul Hackett has shown himself to be nothing but honest and straight-forward. He talks like an ordinary person - there is NO hidden meaning when he speaks. But Jean Schmidt wouldn't know how to tell a true statement if her ........election depended on it. She talks like a career politician - saying one thing but doing another. Like the whole soldier pin thing - "support the troops", but on the sly degrade a soldier's war record so she can collect a few more votes. Just pitiful.
All I can tell you is if you voted for Jean Schmidt, then I feel sorry for you. Your valuable vote has been wasted, but it will be everyone who will suffer the repercussions if she is elected.

Schmidt is bashing a vet just like a good republican. Onward Fristian soldiers. I heard again today that there is a shortage of recruits for the armed forces. I'd be willing to bet that there is a sudden rash of pilonidal cysts. It would be interesting to see how many senator's sons are brushing off Dad's lists of possible causes for deferment . Wouldn't it be interesting if one of them dolts forgets the party line and claims to have become a muslim and therefore a conscientious objector. Maybe they will all just have other priorities. We'll know in about thirty years right?
