This is starting to look like a slam dunk for Kaine. With the vote in so far, we've seen absolutely nothing from Democratic strongholds such as Arlington Co., Charlottesville city, and Petersburg city with the vast majority of the vote yet to come in in Alexandria city, Richmond city, Norfolk city and Portsmouth city, all Dem strongholds.
The big prize in VA is Fairfax County, where 39% of the vote in at last check. Kaine leads 61-38 there. Comparatively, John Kerry won 53-46 in Fairfax County. And in the small city of Williamsburg in SE VA, the entire vote is in and Kaine got 60%...compared to 51% for Kerry. I don't know how much of the Shenandoah Valley and exurbia is yet to come in, but things are looking VERY BAD right now if you're in the Kilgore camp.

Is there an incumbent in the VA Attorney General Election?

Nearly all of the vote is in for Chesterfield County, a Republican stronghold in suburban Richmond where Bush beat Kerry 60-39 last year. Kilgore's winning it by a weak 53%. Things are looking better with every new round of precincts.

Still most of the vote out in Arlington, Alexandria, Norfolk, and Portsmouth with all of the vote still left in Charlottesville and Petersburg. Unless there's a delay in the overall voter numbers and the precinct listings, Kaine's cruising to victory here. And with more than 80% of the vote in in Fairfax County, Kaine has more than 60%. That's huge!

With more than half the vote in, Kaine is even leading in exurban Prince William County. This is really looking good.

Looks like Kaine will win by about a five point margin. I can't imagine Kilgore could stage a comeback at this point with the precincts left hanging out there.

Bob, this victory for the Democrats has nothing to do with you. This victory is for every Virginian Democrat who phonebanked, who canvassed, who lit dropped, and who handed out flyers. It certainly does not rest at the feet of someone who trashes a great progressive Democrat at the 11th hour because of his unchecked ego. Thanks for your help, Bob, but no thanks. With friends like you, who needs Jerry Kilgore?
