4Q Fundraising Open Thread

Posted by DavidNYC

(Bumped. Thanks to everyone who's been posting numbers in comments. Please feel free to keep doing so.)

The fundraising totals are already starting to flow fast and furious. These days, it seems that at least some campaigns like to release their numbers early via e-mail. I got one from Sherrod Brown saying he pulled in $497K, with cash-on-hand at $2.37M. What numbers have you seen so far?

Paul Hackett reported his numbers today:

Raised $465,779, with $229,784 cash on hand. 8675 contributors, average amount $51.

He also compared himself to other well-known winning Dems in their first quarter of fundraising on his blog. I think the only comparison that matters, though, is the one with Brown, and he has over $2 million in the bank.

Yes, the only comparison that matters is the one with Brown--that is, the comparison between ballots cast for Hackett and Brown when Hackett wins the Ohio primary. :)

let's hope you're right about Hackett in the primary.

And is it just me or is that ad for John Shadegg seriously creepy?

The CA 50th Special Election

Francine Busby outraised all of her Republican opponents in the 4th Quarter with $271,000 raised. Busby ended the quarter with $371,000 cash on hand.

The closest Republican was Brian Bilbray with $190,000 cash on hand.

My Dad, Jack Carter, will show about $250,000 raised for his (NV) Senate campaign against John Ensign.

various 4Q numbers (so far):

Russ Warner - $117,950 raised (in his first quarter as a candidate) and none of that has been spent so far.

Christine Cegelis - $68,160 raised in 4Q, $77,769 spent, $39,363 COH

Tom Hayhurst (IN-3) - $41,187 raised in 4Q, $10,791 spent, $87,648 COH. Notable because he has out fundraised Mark Souder so far (Souder has raised $81K and has 41K on hand).

Tim Walz - $118,153 raised, $77,843 spent, $40,309 COH (in his first quarter as a candidate)

Gary Trauner (WY) - raised $109,669 in 4Q (his first quarter). Has $101,682 COH

Check out the Maryland Senate race numbers - $2.1 million on hand for Ben Cardin…Kweisi Mfume only $125,000. Who thinks they can even compete with the moneybags Republican attack machine with on $125,000? Cardin is the only one who can take on the Bush-Steele team. He’s got the money and the record to keep the seat blue.

I was really happy to see Francine Busby's hard work in California's once safely red 50th CD paying off so handsomely. She kicked butt and took no prisoners, beating the whole gaggle of right wing kooks and loons she has to face in the April Special Election. I did a story
about her fundraising prowess at Down With Tyranny. I'm concerned that Rahm Emanuel is butting into a number of primary contests on the side of corporate Dems (and more than one REPUBLICAN "convert") and against grassroots and progressive challengers. Emanuel seems to like message-less candidates only-- especially when it comes to Iraq. He's lavishing money on these people while real Democrats with something to say and with real passion get nothing-- but abuse. Most of us know what he's been doing to Christine Cegelis but that doesn't even begin to tell the story. It seems like in almost every district where there's a vulnerable Republican incumbent, Emanuel is trying to chase off the grassroots candidates and insert his pathetic "moderates" (most of whom smell like reationaries to me). On my Act Blue page I'm doing my best to highlight some REAL Dems who deserve support from people who don't want a Congress filled with mini-Liebermans and Nelsons. Please check out Dave Lutrin, the Democrat who could, if Emanuel would stop supporting a Republican, rid Florida's 16th CD of the execrable Mark Foley.
