KY-04: Ken Lucas Is In!
Posted by DavidNYCFantastic news, friends: Former Rep. Ken Lucas is indeed running to reclaim his old seat, Kentucky's 4th Congressional District! This move automatically makes KY-04 a top-tier race this year. Also, kudos to Mark Nickolas and his grassroots Draft Ken Lucas effort. Keep your eyes on this district - it's gonna be a good one!
P.S. This also means we have candidates running in all six KY districts. In the four states whose deadlines have passed or are about to pass - IL, TX, WV & KY - there are Dems running in 59 of 60 spots. So far, that's excellent.

Nice! I had to admit, I thought Lucas' entrance into this race was a pipe dream when you first raised the prospect. It's very pleasing to see he's back in the game. I've heard Geoff Davis is less-than-popular up there in northeast Kentucky. I guess we'll find out.

I certainly thought it was a longshot, too. But Mark Nickolas got me believin' - and I think he got Lucas (or at least some of his local backers) believin', too.

We have legit shots in 2,3,4, and 6.
I endorse John Yarmuth in 3, Weaver 2, Chandler 6, and Lucas 4.

Nice! Just a reminder that the Lucas district is in the Cincinnati Metro district. Northern Kentucky is very much a part of greater Cincinnati. Right across the Ohio River is another standout -- Paul Hackett!

Daniel: Considering that, as of now, there's no GOP challenger to Chandler in the 6th, we darn well better "have a chance" there! :)

Yeah, Chandler better not lose to Gatewood Galbraith or anything like that.

VA-07, the seat of the ethically challenged Eric Cantor has an opponent now. His name is Brad Blanton. His website is www.blantonforcongress.com. He's an Independant, but a very progressive one. He seems like someone we could get behind.

Just out of curiosity, what's the current partisan alignment of KY-05. I'm not sure exactly where the district lines fall, but I'm pretty sure this is a divided district between Democratic-leaning Appalachian communities like Pikeville and Hazard, and then right-wing Bible-thumping towns in tobacco country. What are our chances here when (or rather if) Hal Rogers ever retires.

Is there anything stopping Brad Blanton from running as a Democrat?
As for KY-5, it went 61/39 for Bush, while Kentucky went 60/40 Bush. KY-5 has a lot of diehard Democratic counties. So it would take somebody to appeal to them to pick up the district when Rogers leaves.

Yea, if no one files, he could run for Governor, too.
Stumbo may be the best chance when Hal retires. Or Dr. Dan.
