What the hell is taking so long for these California returns to come in?

This is the most exciting primary ever, huh? I just keep chanting "down with Pombo" and "Busby over Bilbray" to pass the time. I know that some want Pombo to win the primary, but I just want him to be defeated by any of his opponents. If he loses tonight, that's fine by me, as unlikely as that is.

Well, I was clearly wrong about Gallegly. He didn't even break a sweat.

I've got a big fat headahe but I'm still awake. I'm about to throw in the towel on Westly & Busby.
The Speier/Garamendi & Strickland/Maldonado races are cliffhangers. Looks like Chiang, Bowen, Parrish, Lockyer, Brown,Bustamente & Congs Harman, Woolsey & Pombo are all headed for a win.

Ya know what the big surprise of the night is for me?

Russ Warner, who spent around $84,761, was defeated by Cynthia Matthews (who spent $2,713)

So basically the chance to beat Dreier is going up in smoke because the best candidate couldn't actually get past Cynthia Matthews.

Holy cow, I wasn't even watching the Warner-Matthews race.

That's a terrible shame.

Question: will the CA50 seat be up for grabs again in November? I can't understand from everything I've read if they have to do it again 5 months from now... yes/no? That would be great, and then Busby could work on running a MORE PROGRESSIVE campaign, which kos is pushing forward. Also, I don't think I really understand the difference between a Dem and a Progressive Dem. I would appreciate some input on that.

Cheers! Also... not happy about Harmony/Winograd. I really wanted Marcy and Francine to pull it off.

Oh yeah, the seat's up for grabs again in November, but I really doubt that Francine can pull it off. Hate to be a killjoy, but this was her one big shot. She won't have nearly the amount of money she did to play with for the June race, the DCCC will likely move on to other contests, and Bilbray will have a bit of incumbency on his side. It worked well for Stephanie Herseth when she won her special in a squeaker, and then the general by an even better margin against the same opponent.
