Reminder: Pac For A Change Contest
Posted by James L.Just a reminder to all of you who haven't voted in Barbara Boxer's PAC For A Change Senate challenger competition--you've got three days to submit your ballots. The winner gets a fundraising appeal from Senator Boxer; if you've seen the PAC's Actblue page, you'd know that this can mean some serious mojo. Currently Bob Casey is in the lead, which is maddening. I don't really have anything against Casey. I think he'd be a huge improvement over Rick Santorum, but c'mon. When has Casey EVER trailed in the polls against Santorum? Casey's got a fairly large warchest, a very good profile, third-party support and stellar poll numbers. He doesn't need this boost. Every other candidate in the running, including Claire McCaskill and Sherrod Brown (who sit at a close second and third, respectively), needs it more.
Vote your conscience, but also vote with your head please.

I voted for McCaskill last week in the hope that someone I thought was a smarter choice than Casey could win. I really wonder who is voting for Casey. Like you, I have nothing against him and really want him to win his race, but I think the fundraising is more needed in other races.

Well, I guess part of the reason Casey is getting so many votes is, his opponent is such a controversial figure. I mean, who else has an opponent whose surname has become synonymous with a rather unappetizing sexual byproduct? Santorum has gotten so much negative attention on the left, a lot of people out there who don't follow these races as closely as we do see his name and immediately vote for his opponent.
With that being said, I certainly agree that other candidates need the funding more urgently. Vote McCaskill-- 'cause, try as we may, we can't turn Talent into a bad word!

I heard the DNC is leaning towards voting for Nevada as an early primary state. Does this sound like a stupid idea to anyone else?
Asking our candidates about what they think about legalizing prostitution in other states is probably not the best way to appeal to values voters.
I know the national committee does lots of boneheaded things, but this sure seems to take the cake. They're supposed to vote on Saturday - what's the best way to yell at 'em and tell them not to act like idiots again?

I'm just curious why we have two comments in two different posts within minutes of each other on the same rather left-field topic.

I think we should vote for Ned Lamont in Barbara Boxers.....PAC for Change.....that might be a way to send her a message about flying across country to campaign for George Bush's favorite Democratic lapdog.
