CA-11: Pulling a Pombo
Posted by James L.Not content to let uber-corrupt anti-environmentalist Richard Pombo off the hook without a major air war, the Wildlife Action Fund has stepped up to the plate in CA-11 with two new TV ads.
"The Office":
"The Principal":
It would be great if Netroots candidate Jerry McNerney could augment these ads with some biographical/contrast spots of his own to really seal the deal. Barbara Boxer is hosting a fundraiser for him on the 25th, so hopefully Jerry will have the necessary resources to get on the air.

Love it! The first one was really good. I wish they said Pombo's name one more time, but just wow. That was awsome.

Perhaps if Senator Boxer had spent more time in California helping candidates like McNerney raise money instead of interfering in Connecticut politics, they would have the money now to do some bio/info tv spots.

I Officially declare this to be the greatest ad campaign since Budweiser's "Real Men of Genius".

Those ads were great, they were very very creative. Hopefully this can spark McNerny's campaign.
IndyDan, I feel your pain. I volunteered basically full time on John Pavich's campaign in IL-11, which is a second-tier but winnable race. Rahm Emanuel and Barack Obama have been very active in supporting Democratic candidates across the country, but havent done anything for us here. Thankfully, Sen. Durbin recently threw his hat in the ring and will give us a hand.

LOL...Sweet. Just surprised I haven't seen these on the tube yet, hopefully they will provide some viable airplay.
I also hope that Feinstein/Boxer will take an active role in helping McNerney. Having Feinstein at the top of the ticket is already a help. The latest Field Poll shows her trouncing Mountjoy-R by 56% to 34% Statewide and 56% to 38% in the Central Valley, which encompasses most of this CD. Unfortunetly the Field Poll Site Links were not working at this time. I believe they conducted a generic congressional race poll along with this one.

I love these ads and hope they are getting some real air time. (If anyone knows where, or how often, they are playing, I'd love to hear.)
It does seem that Calif dems running for or holding statewide office could spend some extra time in CA-11 on party building and GOTV. Glad that Boxer has jumped in. I'll be there on Friday, and am gathering friends to attend.

Hilltopper: I just found the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund's press release for the ads:
Today, Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund announced that it would air new TV and radio ads drawing attention to Rep. Richard Pombo's record on ethics issues, including taxpayer funded trips he has taken and his use of his government staff to work on political campaigns. (...) The ads will air on Sacramento television and Stockton radio for one week.
I wish it were longer, but hopefully that won't be all that the DWAF put into this race.

James: Thanks for the info. I think I will send them a little "thank you" contribution. They have been doing a great job in CA-11.
