CT-Sen: Earth to Biden
Posted by James L.From a Hardball interview with Joe Biden:
Asked where he stands on the CT SEN race: "Well, I stand for the Democratic candidate. Joe is my good friend. I told Joe when I went up there campaigning for them, I want to lead the Democratic Party. I've got to abide by the Democratic Party's ruling."Asked if he will take "any active role" in getting a Dem elected in CT: "Yes, but I'm not going to take an active role by being against Joe. I'm not going to take an active role by discouraging any of Joe's friends. I'm going to take an active role in trying to elect the Democrat" (MSBNC, 8/16).
You are not taking an "active role in trying to elect the Democrat" if you do not do all in your power to discourage Joe Lieberman and his Republican lobbyist "friends" from running a kamikaze race against the Democratic nominee. Plain. And. Simple.
If Biden can't be serious about standing up strongly for good Democrats nationwide, he can't be trusted as Presidential material.

Biden is presidential material only in his own mind, and in the minds of the same beltway Gang of 500 who love Joe Lieberman. And besides, his list of sins is so long (bankruptcy bill, Kinnock plagiarism, etc.), he was never viable anyhow.

As you can see, if Lamont is to win this thing, he's going to need to appease to the greater masses somehow. It is becoming more and more unlikely that Loserman is going to back away so Lamont's team has to come up with some new strategies and soon to swing the indie voters for him. But the numbers are very disconcerting.

Soory, James...but I disagree. Taking a NEGATIVE role in a campaign doesn't serve the purpose that a positive role on behalf of the nominee can serve.
There are few supporters for Biden to discourage. So why beat on him?
If he is honest enough to make those comments on nationwide TV that's an honesty we haven't had in 6 years and deserves respect for that alone. Whether you agree or not...I respect that simple fact he said it clearly unlike so many others. And I'm not a Biden supporter.
There is already a petition for the public that has nearly 5300 personal comments sent to Democratic Senators and CC'd to Harry Reids office sponsored by the Stacey for Congress Campaign in LA-1 if you want Lieberman stripped of all his committee assignments.
That's a more useful effort as the politicos will always listen to BIG public numbers more than others they see everyday. With the Blogsphere involved we can create 50,000 letters easy.
The petition is here and is open of all to send their personal message and Harry Reid receives a copy of each one.
