NY-03: Peter King Says Lamont Supporters Are "Bigots"
Posted by DavidNYCAdd Peter King to the list of people who hate democracy:
King said the Connecticut primary has no bearing on his re-election race because "fortunately, the Third District is not composed of the left-wing bigots who went after Joe Lieberman."
You can read the article to find yet another iteration of the "this means Dems aren't serious on national security" line of attack. The GOP clearly plans to use this over and over until November. I really wonder if it will resonate, though.
(Hat-tip to Dave Mejias for Congress.)

I would agree with King that Lieberman-Lamont probably won't have an impact on his district. I am amazed by the number of Republicans who think that their voters have a deep emotional attachment to Joe Lieberman.
Rasmussen has Lieberman up by 5---I expected a lot more (I figured that 40-40 poll was an outlier).

Off topic here, but if you guys follow cqpolitics, they just changed the election forecaster ratings for 3 senate elections and 15 house elections. I'm glad to say that most of the changes favour the Democrats. Dailykos also has a link to this article as well.

That certainly was good news from CQ Politics, finally upping the "No Clear Favorite" category from 9 to 13 seats (MN-06,IL-06,CT-04 & AZ-08).Plus they downgraded a number of GOP seats to more competitive status and upgraded a number of Dem seats to Safe.
In addition, Cook Political Reports has revised (8/9) their House race predictions moving the following to Toss-up:
TX-22(Open-DeLay), NY-24 (Open-Boehlert) and placing the inframous Peter King NY-03 in competitive status as "Likely Republican".
The new ratings produce the following regarding Republican held seats (prior ratings in parens)
Toss-up = 17 (15) Leans Gop=19 (21) Likely Gop = 19 (18) Total of 55 competitive seats now.
On the Dem side it remains as 20 competitive seats, 10 Likely & 10 Leans Dem, no Toss-ups.

Saturday at 2 PM you'll be able to meet the progressive Democrat, Dave Mejias, who is challenging rubber stamp wingnut King in NY-03. Dave is the special guest over at firedoglake's Blue America.

The only impact the lamont race would have on NY-3 is to show the media covering the race that siding with Bush as King does all the time is not healthy for incumbants.
King is attached to Bush and the Dubai ports deal and immigration differences won't seperate them enough.
King has the same rosy oulook for Iraq as Lieberman does. King said downtown baghdad is no different that downtown manhattan.
