Reminder: Netroots Fundraising Push Begins Tomorrow!

Posted by DavidNYC

Tomorrow - Monday, August 21st - we begin a weeklong fundraising push for all the candidates on the Daily Kos/MyDD/Swing State Project netroots page. We'll also soon be announcing the final additions to the list. As always, if your favorite candidates aren't on the list, we strongly encourage you to donate to any and all Democrats you do like. And remember, campaigns in AZ, DE, MD, MN, NH, NY, RI, VT & WI all close their books on Wednesday the 23rd, so this is a crucial time to help candidates show good fundraising numbers for their FEC reports.

If you're wondering what this is all about, check here and here. And if you haven't yet nominated your preferred candidates, this is your final chance to do so. (One request: Please submit nominations via comments, not via e-mail. Thanks!)

Danny Stover, Democrat for US Congress, IL-19

Illinois is a blue state, but many districts have been sending repuglicans to Congress, including the rural southern Illinois 19th. Although Congressman Shimkus, R-Collinsville, is an incumbent, there is not great love for him among the locals.

He does outspend Stover 20:1, however, with television advertisement an extremely effective media to the country folk.

OpenSecrets.org reports Representative (R - IL), John M. Shimkus 2005-2006 Total Receipts: $835,691
2005-2006 Total Spent: $298,160
Cash on Hand: $1,170,500

Shimkus is a Bush republican.

Stover can beat him for the congressional seat with your help.

Stover's netroots blog is at http://blogforstover.blogspot.com/.

Stover's campaign accepts contributions through ActBlue, and his website is http://stoverforcongress.us/.

Thankx netrooter!

Chris Carney, PA 10th--Time called him "Karl Rove's worst nightmare"--what could be a better recommendation?
This is a very red part of a blue state, but the district is up for grabs because the incumbent Don Sherwood tried to strangle his mistress, and so her 911 call revealed that he had a mistress in D.C., for years, all while he was preaching family values and had a wife and kids back in PA. Republicans, especially women, are pissed!

Voters should have been mad at Sherwood long ago, since he votes with Bush 98% of the time and gets a rating of 5 out of a 100 from the ADA, and a big fat zero from other progressive organizations.

Carney has real family values, is a Lt. Commander in the Naval Reserve and was endorsed by both Murtha and Cleland--as well as 26 unions.

Carney has progressive views, is very energetic, traveling all over a district the size of the state of Connecticut. He has raised and saved enough money so that he put up TV spots before Sherwood--and they're good, positive images emphasizing the values of the voters here. But he needs more money to get more name recognition against a 3-term incumbent.

Chris Carney gives straightforward answers to questions and listens to citizens' concerns--he is the kind of responsive, accountable representative we need. And he can win this year.

Bill Winter CO-06

He should have been added months ago.
There are so many good candidates this cycle, but Bill really stands out for this endorsement.

He fits every criteria perfectly, and he can win if we make our voices heard.

Great candidate. Insane opponent. A district that is looking for a change. A race that is being ignored by the big money.

If we wake them up, this race could really be the one that establishes the Netroots as a force for change. If we push this race to the next level, then this bandwagon will pick of speed fast.
