WA-08: And So Do We

Posted by James L.

Here's the first sign that Ned Lamont's media campaign is gaining notice and respect from other political ad firms: check out Netroots candidate Darcy Burner's first tv ad (60 seconds, WMV). Wait for the end and try not to do a spit take.

actually, after the new "i approve this message" disclosure requirements came out in 2004 people started with the "so do we" thing... also, the "i aprove this message because..." became fairly popular.

can't give ned the credit on that one, unfortunately.

Really?

Oh. I never saw the "So Do We" thing before Ned--I guess I haven't been watching enough TV.

Howard Dean actually ran some of the first post-BCRA tv ads, and even in his first ads did the "I approve because" thing. (And several very stupid pundits thought Dean was some kind of nut, not realizing he was following the new legal requirements.)

I don't recall using the "so do we" gimmick before, but working the "I approve this message" line into the general flow of the ad is nothing new.
