NM-Sen: Udall Steamrolls; Wilson and Pearce Neck-and-Neck

SurveyUSA (5/12-14, registered voters, 11/16-18 in parens):

Tom Udall (D): 60 (54)

Steve Pearce (R): 36 (40)

Tom Udall (D): 61 (56)

Heather Wilson (R): 35 (41)

(MoE: ±2.3%)

This race is really starting to look like a lost cause for Republicans.

Here’s the primary head-to-head between Pearce and Wilson:

Steve Pearce (R): 49 (37)

Heather Wilson (R): 46 (56)

(MoE: ±4.8%)

Pearce has surged somethin’ fierce since December, but his lead is within the margin of error.  I think we’d be better off facing Pearce in November, so I’ll cheer him on.

SSP currently rates this race as Leans Democratic.

Primary: 6/3

  1. I’m loving every minute of it, even though I’d love to see Udall wipe the floor with Wilson (and give me some much needed satisfaction from that heart-breaking House race in 2006) I’m with James L., Pearce would be better.

It’s gonna be a HUGE year in New Mexico.

  2. would be for the NM GOP to pick Heather Wilson and not Steve Pearce. This is because it would increase the possibility that Heather Wilson, with two races to fund, will have to sell her house, sell her boat, her car, her stamp collection and her grandkids (if she has any), to raise money for a losing race, and might end up living out of a cardboard box behind an Exxon station’s dumpster, with a lifetime of personal debt to pay off, and no job.

Not that I bear her any personal ill-will, of course.
