NV-Gov, NV-Sen: Goodman Won’t Run

It’s over:

Ending months of speculation, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman announced today that he will not run for governor and will instead focus on promoting the city and improving its economy.

“It has been a great ride and I have 15 more months on this ride,” he said of the time left in his third and final term as mayor. “I’m going to keep myself busy for the next 15 months.”

Goodman was also asked if he’d consider running for Senate, and the answer there is no, too. So it looks like we’re stuck with these dorks in November.

  1. starting to get extremely pissed at the lack of balls in the Democratic Party. I swear if I ever run for office I’m going to teach Democrats to grow a pair.

  2. He was too old to totally shift to the Senate, but Governor was his for the taking.

I wouldn’t get on him though for lack of balls.  Anybody over 70 really has better things to do than start a barnd new job in politics.

Still, we don’t have to accept the Reids.  There must be a city councilperson from a town of 500 people somewhere….

  3. I have read in several places that because Goodman changed his party registration to I, he can’t run as a D this year for any office.

  4. e.g. Steve Wynn (guy behind several of the big Vegas hotels)

    Phil Ivey (Texas hold’em stud)

    David Duffield (PeopleSoft CEO)

  5. he looks eccentric in that photo. Too bad, Rory Reid is going to go down in a 20 point loss to Brian Sandoval. But Rory Reid is a good fundraiser, out raising Sandoval 3 to 1, not that would matter since Terry McAuliffe outspent everyone but still lost in a landslide to Creigh Deeds. All Sandoval has to do is put a picture of father next to son and its all over.

  6. The sad part about NV-Gov is that even in the off chance that Sandoval loses the primary, drops out of the race, or gets hit by a meteor, Rory Reid would still be in a tossup race against one of the most if not the most unpopular governor in the country.
