The Company You Keep

Match the following statements…

1) George Bush is “the right man at the right time.”

2) “Let’s put the United States first again, and John McCain is the man as president who will help us do that.”

3) “There is not a better Congressman in Washington than Chris Shays.”

4) “I can’t say enough good things about Ileana Ros-Lehtinen; she has been my friend since I was first elected to office.”

… to the list of politicians below:

A) Zell Miller

B) Joe Lieberman

C) Harold Ford

D) Debbie Wasserman Schultz

I doubt anyone needs an answer key to know who said what. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a member of the DCCC’s leadership, sure keeps good company.

  1. Now Democrats can’t keep company and friendships with Republicans, are they untouchables now or what. I don’t see the point. Wasserman is one of the most liberal members of the house, and head of the “Red to Blue” Program. In the capitol building there’s a certain degree of respect and amnity expected and kept between members, which is why so many Republicans started jeering at Rep. Schmidt was well when she made her statements about Murtha. It’s considered kind of unprofessional to campaign against Representatives from your own state delegation directly, attnending fundraisers and whatnot these days is perfectly fine. But we barely have a race against Ros-Lehtenin, it’s a Republican district, so no real damage done, and it’s not like her statements are that importany anyway, unless we give them importance. People should be allowed to say nice things about their friends, period, as politics should not come in between friendship and family.
