KY-Gov: WaPo on the Race

Chris Cillizza and Jeffrey H. Birnbaum have a piece in the Washington Post today on the 2007 race for Governor of Kentucky. The announcement this week by Congressman Ben Chandler that he will not seek to become the Democratic nominee against troubled GOP incumbent Ernie Fletcher opens the field to a number of possible Democratic candidates.

  1. and uninviting GOP primary awaiting him. his own lieutenant governor is going to run againbst him, and that means he’l,l have to psned all his money on a primary he may not win. Peronsally, I’d State Treasurer Johnathon Miller to run with the Democratic speaker of the House as his LG. Do you think that’d make a strong ticket? Or, maybe Louisville Mayor Arbramson with Miller as his LG. Greg Stumbo said he wouldn’t run for governor though. If he did I’d be all behind a Stumbo/Miller ALliance that would almost unbeatable.

I think Cahndler’s decision means he’s going to run against stupid Jim Bunning who’s said he’s running for reelection. If Republicans nominate him again, a well funded strong campaign by Cahndler would easily do what Morgiando, who ran a great campaign almost did, bknock off Jim Bunning.

I don’t think that chandler’s going to take the cahnce and run against someone like Mitch McConnel, he’s just too intrenched to be beaten by about anyone.
