KY-Sen: Lunsford Trails McConnell By Four

SurveyUSA (6/13-16, likely voters):

Bruce Lunsford (D): 46

Mitch McConnell (R-inc): 50

(MoE: ±4%)

This is the second poll we’ve seen showing McConnell in trouble. A Rasmussen Reports survey from last month showed Lunsford actually leading McConnell by four points. McConnell’s campaign subsequently released an internal poll showing him leading Lunsford by 50-39, which wasn’t exactly a spectacular performance itself. If McConnell’s ceiling is around the 50% mark, this could actually be a real race.

Bonus finding: McCain only leads Obama by 53-41 in the same round of polling. This is SUSA’s first poll since the Democratic presidential primary concluded.

  1. I really thought that the Rasmussen poll was an outlier and we were more likely down about 10 points.  Being down 4 sounds good to me at this point.

  2. maybe this will be a race after all.

If only there was a candidate who was even just a decent moderate Democrat who I could enthusiastically get behind.

  3. McConnell is just the type of partisan, talking points, tote the party line phony politician we need to purge from this nation. I’ve never heard an honest answer from him. He’s like a Republican robot memorizing the current talking points. He’s an embarrassment with no mind of his own. He’s ripe for the picking, since he’s many times made a fool of himself with his dishonest statements.
