GA-SEN: Cook Calls it a Toss-up

Everyone heads up. The Georgia Race has been offically declared red hot by the beltway pundits with this email just now hitting my box.

Mon Oct 13 14:48:57 CDT 2008Race: 2008 Senate – GAThe Cook Political Report Race Rating for this race has been changed from LeanRepublican to Toss Up.

Yep, DC has labled it a toss-up and with Oregon going blue this could be the biggest race on Election Night. All hands of deck!

  1. back on the air in Georgia.  I heard that there has been a resurgence in Television advertising as of late, which should boost turnout among groups that are favorable for Martin.  That will help cover some of the financial defecit plaguing Martin.

  2. It’s amazing that Martin is in there, but it is true.  Let’s hope (and make this) like Va 2006, and not Ky 2004.  I am still pissed at how much Ky 2004 was ignored until too late.

Anyone know if the DSCC has jumped in?  They better.

BTW, I’m older than 50 and cannot recall ever having an election night as good as this one can be if everything keeps coming together.  We had 74 and 86, but those were off-year.  We won the presidency in 76, 92, and 96, but not that much else. In fact, the only year I can recall as big as this one can be was the big R year of 80.

No slowing down.  No letting up.  Fight until it is all over.  Then party like mad and welcome a new generation of leadership.

  3. Polls that show Martin down a couple points within the MOE, have AA turnout at 25% because that’s where it was in 04. But there have been multiple stories about how AA turnout in Georgia has been through the roofs. Obviously it won’t stay at 40%, but 30% is very possible and if its 30%, Martin’s chances increase significantly.
