  1. should lampsonrun for anything?  tx-22, sen in 2012?  i just figure that his political capitol is almost gone, so it might be better to use him to run for tx-22, than an up and comer, who will just blemish his/her record.  besides, who else do we have in that district?

  2. Now that bigot loser Virgil Goode is getting a recount, and assuming that 745 votes don’t flip, how is that affecting Tom Perriello starting his new job?

I assume that he can attend new member orientations and such. But until the Board of Elections finishes their work, I also assume he doesn’t get an office or a budget to start hiring DC staff.  And at that point he’ll only have what’s left at the bottom of the barrel to pick from.

Maybe he’ll be given Goode’s old office after he’s dragging out kicking and screaming next month (or when the election is finally settled)

I sure hope this VA recount isn’t like the MN-Sen where Coleman’s people are just frivolously challenging thousands of ballots (mainly so they’re excluded from the updated daily counts).

  3. I know this is a little off-topic, but ever since I noticed this anomaly I’ve been scratching my head.  I’ve been comparing county victories in the last three elections in recent weeks and stumbled upon the following trajectory of voter turnout in Hernando County, Florida, north of the Tampa-St. Petersburg area….

    2000–Gore 32,648  Bush 30,658

    2004–Bush 42,635  Kerry 37,187

    2008–McCain 25,220  Obama 18,980

This is with 100% of the precincts reporting.  There’s no way a coastal county in Florida has lost that many people and I struggle to believe voter turnout was that abysmal.  Could there really be a voting anomaly this seismic that has gone unnoticed by Florida canvassing boards?  Or is there another explanation?

  4. Looks good right now.

AZ-Gov: I wonder when we’ll start to see polling on a possible Brewer (R) vs. Goddard (D) race. Since President-Elect Obama seems determined to take Gov. Napolitano away from us, we’ll have to work to get this seat back.

AZ-Sen: See above… So I guess we’ll have to go back to the drawing board to find a challenger for Johnny Mac.

NV-Sen: OK, so everyone’s talking about the Reid v. Porter R2K poll. But why don’t I think Porter can beat Reid? If this is the best the GOP has, then we can keep Harry Reid as our Senate Majority Leader.

NV-Gov: So it looks like America’s Worst Governor? now realizes that tax reform can’t be “off the table”. So if he’s challenged from the right (Dean Heller?) in the primary, can that weaken him in the general?

CA-Supreme Court: This spring, all eyes will be on them as they decide on the (il)legality of Prop H8. Watch for the recall threats if they do the right thing & overturn this improper attempt to write discrimination into the state constitution.

CA-Sen: So which GOPer will lose to Boxer?

CA-Gov: When will Feinstein announce? And which GOPer will lose to her?

CA-03: Haha. Lungren doesn’t get his leadership position. So what other stunt will he pull to try to hold onto this seat?

CA-04: So McCarpetbagger squeaks out a win. If he abandons this seat to run for something else, should we run Charlie Brown again or find a new candidate?

CA-44: Bill Hedrick should run again. We’re SO CLOSE to beating Creepy Ken Calvert!

CA-46: Will Debbie Cook run again? Or do we need a new candidate to take out Crazy Dana?

  5. So I was talking to someone from the Obama campaign who was working on the ground in IN-03 for the election, helping deliver Indiana for Obama.  When I asked about Mike Montagano, this person had nothing nice to say about him, saying that Montagano did everything he could to run away from Obama.  Remember that his commercial said he was “pro-prayer”?  I mean, WTF does that mean?  Who the hell is “anti-prayer” in general?  The guy I spoke to believes this was the main reason why Montagano only got 40% of the vote, even as Obama won the state, when underfunded Tom Hayhurst (D) in 2006 even managed to get 46% of the vote.

So did anyone else get a similar impression of IN-03 or hear something similar to this?

  6. What the heck is wrong with that district?  I know they had about 1,000 ballots in question but why are they waiting to count those tens of thousands of absentees that are supposedly good ballots?

  7. Here is why I’m interested, I’m wondering why SSP didn’t do anything further for Martin.  You guys endorsed him and worked for him before, just wondering why not also for the special election that actually decides the race.

In all honesty, I’m kind of grateful you didn’t….  I’m so done with election 2008.  Just done.  And I dont think we’ll win anyway.  But besides that, I’m tired, I’m done, I’m spent.  That’s why the Franken thing is killing me, ugh, just be done already.  I ignore a phone call from their office every day other day, no, I’m pooped out and can’t do any more, leave me be.

But, original question, why no help for Martin?  Same sentiment?  I feel bad for people in Georgia, ugh, DONE!  At least with Franken’s thing it isn’t an election, it’s already all decided, it’s which side can bullshit more which is even more tiresome and makes it all the easier to ignore their call for help.

  8. But I’m interested to learn that the Canadian Conservative government is looking likely to fall to a left-wing coalition.

  9. I think Dollar Bill Jefferson is an embarrassment to our party and should be thrown out of Congress. I wouldn’t be sad if the republican won this one, cuz we would just throw him out again in 2010. But I can’t bring myself to support a republican, cuz that would help build their evil empire.

So I support the Green candidate Malik Rahim

Who by the way seems to be an unusually strong candidate for being Green.
