Senate Minority Leader Capri Cafaro of Liberty, D-32nd, said she’s not interested in running for the U.S. Senate.
Not so good news:
But if Ryan decides to run for the Senate, thus not seeking re-election to the House, Cafaro may run for the House seat. She’d first wait for Ryan to announce his candidacy for the Senate.
“It’s not something I’d rule out,” she said. “I’d consider that option at that time, but it’s very premature.”
For a two-minute refresher on Cafaro, see this vintage DavidNYC post for more.
Update: Another thought here — this would be the third CD that Cafaro has run in during the past six years. She already ran (and flamed out horribly) against 14th District Rep. Steve LaTourette in 2004, and then lost the 13th CD primary in 2006 after Sherrod Brown ran for Senate.
Capri, did we forget about our job in the State Senate?
Only she’s not funny. Elle Woods didn’t do it on her inherited fortune, either.
Just being staunchly pro-gun doesn’t sound all that bad to me.
Funny thing, when you click through that link and read the comments there are people predicting a Sherrod Brown 20 point loss and stating that Betty Sutton wouldn’t make it out of the primaries.
I love the wisdom of the netroots.
That’s kind of a big deal for someone you’re putting the training wheels on. Did she say she wouldn’t put her money into the state senate campaign fund unless she got to be Democratic leader in the Senate?
I just don’t get it. Isn’t that a job you have to be experienced for?
But when your electoral history shows that you’ve never actually won a public office against an opponent, and that the only races you’ve won are primaries (and even her record on that is terrible), then I don’t see how you can boast that you can win a seat in Congress.
Sorry, lady. Maybe you should go back to whatever you were doing (I don’t mean politics, I meant whatever it is you were doing before you got involved in politics, because it would be a really big help).
it’s pretty much impossible for a Republican to win Ryan’s district nowadays.
So far, so good.

Sorry for the off-topic. I don’t yet have enough for a full diary.

Apparently The Tennessee state GOP is coming apart at the seams. They took a 1 seat majority in the state house in the November elections, but the vote on a new Speaker turned into a complete debacle resulting in Democrats along with one republican agreeing to elect a moderate republican Speaker. Funny stuff.
