Two years ago (almost to the day), David brought me on board the Swing State Project as a contributing editor. The past two years have been an absolute blast, which is why I’m very pleased to announce a couple of important milestones in SSP history:
1) Earlier this month, we received our four millionth visitor since David began publishing this site in 2003.
2) This diary marks our 2000th post since we moved over to Soapblox from Movable Type in November 2006.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who visits and reads the Swing State Project for your valuable insights in the comments and user diaries sections. It is you guys who have really made this site a success. Take a well-deserved bow.
I’ve always found Congressional races to be far more interesting and important to our movement in the long-run, and I’m so grateful there is such a well maintained and active blog devoted to them. Thanks to everyone who writes for SSP and participates here, and I hope this blog will be around for a very long time yet.
I find info here that I’m unable to find in other places. Because of your reach, you’re able to pull in info about races I would never otherwise have access to. Also info like filing deadlines, money raised, etc, are really helpful as well. And providing urls of candidates has been a big time saver as well.
MANY thanks to the editors and to regulars who post terrific information. There’s no doubt that SSP has contributed greatly to electing progressive Dems–AND to electing Blue Dogs in place of Repubs, an often underrated achievement. One need only read major pieces in Wednesday’s Times and Post to see what shattering effects LA 06 and MS 01 have had on the overall shape of this year’s election cycle. SSP deserves a good deal of credit for these two achievements and for snagging Hastert’s old seat.
Well done!
Thank you for a great site! I don’t know if you know, but people all over the world are very interested in US politics. And we all root for the democrats (exept those f*’.ing Albanians). The level of interest here in Norway is so big that CNN had advertising posters all over Oslo saying they had the best coverage of the democratic primary.

But frankly I find the presidential race tiering and one dimensional. But the media and the rest of the blogs writes only entirely about that. The daily kos is all about Hillary and Obama sniping. Fundamentally boring.
This is why it is so fantastic to have a site that gives you all the news, updates and analysis and all the races you’ll never find anywhere else. The first to things I do every morning (it’s morning i Norway now) is check for news about my local football (you rebels call it soccer.. but you’ll learn) team and check the Swing State Project. My favourite news provider.
Fantastic! I love the work you do. Don’t you ever stop!
Trauner for Congress!
Gore for 2016!

Reader and US politics junkie from Norway
Easily my fave site to visit every day. I get bored with Dailykos because all they talk about is the presendtial race and it makes me sad when I see them make important updates to the Congressional races days later than this site. I just think people forget how important these races are too!
I’ve been a reader since day 1, and there’s no substitute – it’s a great combination of an information source, a sounding board, and an activism tool.
Milestones, indeed! (It was the best quality recording I could find of the classic Miles Davis composition on YouTube).
For my part, I have to say that I am incredibly honored that James L. and David asked me to join the ranks of contributing editors here. And it's always such a stimulating discussion with everyone here– we are the future of progressive politics! Rock on, Swing State Project!
for the site. 🙂
