VA-Sen: Blowout

Rasmussen (6/12, likely voters, 5/8 in parens):

Mark Warner (D): 60 (55)

Jim Gilmore (R): 33 (37)

(MoE: ±4%)

What an absolutely hopeless race for the GOP. These numbers really do say it all:

Warner’s favorability ratings have also improved. The Democrat is viewed favorably by 70% of Virginia voters and unfavorably by 24%. Gilmore’s numbers are 46% favorable, 42% unfavorable.

Bonus finding: Obama leads McCain by 45-44 in the state.

SSP currently rates this race as Likely Democratic.

  1. Gilmore’s pathetic showing at the state convention where he barely won the nomination that caused this big swing in Warner’s favor.  I was convinced that Warner would win this race by a modest 12-15 point margin for the lon gest time.  But it’s looking more and more like a 20+ point landslide.  I’ll bet the repubs in VA are finally waking up and realizing that Davis would have been their best candidate.

  2. Also, why did Gilmore want the nomination so badly that he pushed Davis out of the way?  What an idiot.
