NM-Sen: No “Unity” Bounce For Pearce in New Poll

Rasmussen (6/18, likely voters, 5/14 in parens):

Tom Udall (D): 58 (53)

Steve Pearce (R): 30 (37)

(MoE: ±4%)

Damn, son. When Tom Udall wins this thing, he’ll essentially be taking out three Republicans: Pearce, Wilson, and Domenici. They should call him: Tom Udall, Republican slayer.

  1. but if tom is able to maintain a healthy lead here, i wonder what it means for coat tails – up and down the ballot.  the presidency could ride on the result as well as NM-1 and NM-2.

  2. That rumor Novak reported turned out to be true. The NM GOP is in the tank and they may not have a federal seat left after November.

  3. How you can sayb Udall will be taking out Wilson or Dominci Im not sure since hes not running against either two of them. Pearce is the only one hes taking out.

  4. Never did I imagine we’d be able to get a solid progressive (not named Bingaman, who has held that seat for a long time) elected to the U.S. Senate from NM in what looks like a landslide.  Same story in Colorado with another Udall.  Just amazing.  This 2008 class of new progressives in the Senate could have a big impact for a generation.

  5. I have been thinking how fascinating it is that the people of New Mexico overwhemingly re-elected strongly conservative Pete Domenici time and again, and in November they are going to give liberal Tom Udall a landslide win.  The reason?  They loved Domenici, and they love Udall in the Land of Enchantment.

Personalities win elections more than policy positions.  This election demonstrates that as much as any race ever could.  What an interesting thing.
