Louisiana Pre-Primary Fundraising Reports Roundup

September 6th is primary day in Louisiana, and midnight was the deadline for congressional candidates to file their pre-primary fundraising reports with the FEC. Once again, SSP rounds up the numbers, covering the period of 7/1 through 8/17:

As usual, all figures are in thousands. No reports have been filed yet for William Jefferson or Cedric Richmond, but we’ll update the chart once they’ve filed.

An impressive period for Democrat Don Cravins, who managed to outraise Boustany. Jim Harlan continues to amaze with his self-funded campaign in the R+19 LA-01, and Carmouche continues to lead the field in the fightin’ 4th.

Cazayoux has some work to do in order to replenish his war chest, but at the same time, he’s spending money at a fast clip in order to stay on the airwaves.

UPDATE: LOL.

  1. You’ve got to say Carmouche is a favorite in the district. He starts out with a big money and polls lead plus DCCC backing. I don’t see how he loses.

Good numbers for Cravins but Boustany has a big head start.

I’d love to see a poll of where Harlen is at in LA-01. I think if he’d jumped into the special with that kind of money the DCCC would have played and he’d be the incumbent now.

  2. I mean I guess I shouldn’t complain, that’s better from my perspective than if he were actually campaigning hard.

But from his perspective, how the hell does he justify this to himself if he’s not even really campaigning (ie, not actually raising any money)?  If he’d raised $150k like Don Cravins did, then at least he could pretend that he’s trying to get to 34%, but $15k?  How do you call yourself anything but a spoiler minor candidate with numbers like that?

The assume-bad-faith asshole in me wants to know what it is that he wants, and why nobody has given it to him yet.  Make him chancellor of LSU or whatever the hell else he wants, just make him go away.  Cazayoux can hold that seat for years if we do this right.

  3. Richmond, Lee, and Carter.  What do we know about these three?  Is there one we’re rooting for over the others?

  4. Just as Obama helped the Georgia candidate, I hope he weighs in to help Cazayoux and inform the voters of LA-06 that he supports only Cazayoux and that a vote for Jackson is a vote for the Republicans.

Is Jackson in Denver as part of the delegation?  He is in the state legislature, so I could see him getting a pass to convention.

  5. cottonmouth?  kingfish?  what’s going on?

as for michael jackson – i assume he just thinks that a billboard with this face on it in east baton rouge should be enough to hand the race to the GOP.  and that’ll teach us for not supporting his campaign!
