Rasmussen (9/25, likely voters, 8/17 in parens):
Mary Landrieu (D-inc): 54 (56)
John Kennedy (R): 41 (39)
(MoE: ±4.5%)
Landrieu delivers another kick in Kennedy’s short pants with this poll, which is always a joy to see. Kennedy is currently blitzing the airwaves with ads claiming that Landrieu is Louisiana’s “most liberal Senator in history”. Nothing seems to be sticking so far for Little John.
SSP currently rates this race as Lean Democratic.
UPDATE: Chad makes a good point:
For the second consecutive cycle… It appears that the most overrated GOP Senate candidate has the last name Kennedy.
but when Kennedy ran for Senate earlier, didn’t he run to the left of Landrieu?
Putting race-related issues aside, that is simply not true. Senator Huey Long opposed FDR from the left, for heaven’s sake, proposing a wealth tax on corporations and high net worth individuals, etc.
But it may be the nicest thing we’ve ever seen printed about Mary Landrieu on these liberal blogs. It could help to keep some of the stupid trashing of Southern Blue Dogs and alleged Bush Dogs in better perspective.
define yourself and your opponent early.
He media team did a good job this year. Does anyone know what shop she’s using?
we won’t be losing a single Senate seat again. And as we’ve all said about 2010, if we dont get any shitty retirees, we should be able to shut them out again, making one massive filibuster proof majority.
Thanks!
Anybody know if VT’s Patrick Leahy will run for reelection in ’10?
Leahy’s my home state’s senior senator and I can tell you that he is very spry for a 68-year-old gentleman. He’s got more energy than a lot of my 20-something friends combined (I’m in my mid-20s).
Bernie Sanders is no spring chicken either at 67, but I can imagine he’s going to be like Leahy. I wouldn’t be surprised if either of them become the Strom Thurmond of Vermont.
