KY-Sen: Teaser

You’ve already seen this poll and that poll, but here’s one poll of the Kentucky Senate race that you haven’t seen:

Following the news that a SurveyUSA poll and a Louisville Courier-Journal survey of the Kentucky Senate race found Sen. Mitch McConnell and challenger Bruce Lunsford locked in a tight race, a third poll – this one not released – confirms the dead heat. (emphasis added)

  1. All of a sudden I’m tempted to put this above Mississippi. But for the moment I think I’ll keep it just behind since Obama will help Musgrove while he probably hurts Lunsford. Still, its amazing that there are ten legit chances at taking away Repub seats while they have zero.

  2. I’m actually really surprised by this, I was never really expecting us to be able to seriously challenge McConnell this time around. I wonder if a few Representative (who will not be named) are kicking themselves right now?

Looks like the debate was a big win for Obama in voters minds.

  4. The bit I know about Kentucky tells me that the bailout plan is going to be as unpopular here as anywhere in the country, and with McConnell in the leadership, it automatically is going to get tied around his neck.

McConnell has never really been all the personally popular in most of Kentucky — in fact, I think even most Republicans see him as a bit of a douche.  He’s from Louisville, and isn’t always well liked in the rest of the state.  If Lunsford can keep building momentum, maybe?

Along with Indiana, Kentucky is the first state in the country to report.  In 1984, when McConnell stunned Dee Huddleston by a couple thousand votes to win election to the Senate, that was the first hard evidence everyone had that Reagan wasn’t just going to win, but win a historic landslide.  Twenty-four years later, Mitch is still there, and maybe can participate in another election that will show the nation is ready to go in another direction!

  5. We currently hold 2 of Kansas’ four House seats and the governorship.  Kentucky has the better history but the present isn’t that dissimilar (2 D, 4 R with a good chance for 3-3and the newly won governorship in KY).

Btw, can you believe that people are talking about Jim Bunning running for re-election in Kentucky? Wtf.
