How else am I to read into this quip by Republican Senator Jim Inhofe at the recent Conservative Political Action Conference?
Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) got the crowd cheering early in the day. “I have been called — my kids are all aware of this — dumb, crazy man, science abuser, Holocaust denier, villain of the month, hate-filled, warmonger, Neanderthal, Genghis Khan and Attila the Hun,” he announced. “And I can just tell you that I wear some of those titles proudly.”
As an aside, Oklahoma Democrats would be well-advised to run a credible challenger against Inhofe in 2008. It’d be worth it alone to see what other “laugh lines” Inhofe produces during the scheduled televised debates.
(Hat-tip to the always sharp Senate 2008 Guru.)
Race Tracker: OK-Sen
Shows why he’s worthy of the name.
I’ve taken to calling the senior Senator from Oklahoma “In Denial” Inhofe because of his notorious denial of global warming. Who knows how much he may or may not be denying.
Inhofe should have a challenger if only because his approval is under 50%. With Gov. Henry and Rep. Boren both having given definite No’s, I’d like to see Brad Carson take another swing.
I keep recommending former national championship and Super Bowl winning Oklahoma football coach Barry Switzer who endorsed John Edwards for President and Brad Carson in 04′, but nobody seems to give a darn about this seat. Is there anybody out there who might be able to get a hold of somebody with the Oklahoma Democrats to ask Barry? It would be unfair to make Brad Carson run in two straight presidential cycles. He did the best he could with Kerry not winning a single county. Of course I’m in Iowa, so what do I know?
The 2008 US Senate Election cycle is similar to the 2000 US Senate Election cycle in which Democrats picked up a net gain of 4 seats
In Florida- The sole open Republican Senate Seat- vacated by Connie Mack- went to Democrat(Bill Nelson).
While Allard-Colorado is not a proven vote getter- Connie Mack- I expect a Democrat(Mark Udall)to win the open Colorado US Senate Seat.
One term US Senators- 1994 Revolution were defeated
Spencer Abraham(Michigan)
Rod Grams(Minnesota)
John Ashcroft(Missouri)
John Sununu(New Hampshire)- is the 2008 version of Spence Abraham. – Both have Arab Heritage. Both were elected narrowly in Pro GOP years-.
Norm Coleman(Minnesota)is the 2008 version of Rod Grams-
Liddy Dole(North Carolina)is the 2008 version of John Ashcroft. –
Other Republican Senators that were defeated in 2000 were
Bill Roth(Delaware)
Slade Gorton(Washington)
Pete Domenici(New Mexico)or John Warner(Virginia)will be the 2008 version of Bill Roth.- Either one of them will lose to their Democratic challengers- Tom Udall or Mark Warner.
Gordon Smith will be the 2008 version of Slade Gorton- A Moderate-Conservative Republican who loses in a Democratic Leaning Western State.
