Tear the roof off the sucker.
Update: I just want to give a shout-out to the third graders at Gladys Wood Elementary School DCal for leaving the 50,000th comment on SSP since we moved over to Soapblox just a bit over two years ago.

Florida and Missouri and Ohio (maybe) oh my! Forget filibuster proof majority, the goal should be veto proof at this point.
With the announcement today from Springfield that the legislature has agreed to impeach Blagojevich, it’s pretty safe to say his career is over. Everybody else says Lisa Madigan seems to be the frontrunner, but aren’t there more contenders for the top job in the Land of Lincoln? What about Pat Quinn? I’d see him as someone either running for Senate or Governor.
With Peter King vacating, the district is winnable, but not given. We need to run a good candidate.
can hardly wait for Paterson’s decision.
Paterson: 10-15 People Are in the Running For Senate Seat
He has said he doesn’t like the idea of a placeholder, and I think sending out a 28 page questionaire to these 10-15 people backs that up.
Seeking Clinton’s Seat, Would-Be Senators Provide Exhaustive Background Details
Would Swing State Project qualify as a “controversial blog” I wonder? Paterson himself has posted on Dailykos in the past week or two, so probably not.
So DavidNYC, you may still be in the running…
Frank Kratovil may have a tough time getting reelected if his opponent isn’t Andy Harris. Or he might not, as many Democrats barely won elections in Republican districts in 2006 due to unusual circumstances, but then won easily in 2008. I met Frank Kratovil and I volunteered for his campaign; he’s a good guy and I really hope he gets reelected. If he gets reelected in 2010 then we can redraw the district to make him safer.
“A new Fairleigh Dickinson PublicMind survey in New Jersey shows Gov. Jon Corzine (D) beating each of his potential Republican challengers: 40% to 33% over former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie (R), 46% to 28% over former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan (R), and 43% to 23% over Assemblyman Rick Merkt (R).”

Not great numbers anywhere but NJ. But this is Jersey and Corzine’s millions hopefully mean a hold.
I’m gonna do a full Texas CD write up on Monday but these two (along with TX-24) are the only real shots in the whole state.
TX-10 If the rumors are true that it is an open seat race State Rep. Mark Strama (D) would be an excellent candidate. If he does not go for it perhaps former Rep Booby Cook would take up the mantle, he just retired from the state house this year. McCain got 55% here, McCaul got 44% against a good opponent.
TX-32 Sessions is NRCC chairman, if we distract him with his own race then all the better for everyone else running for office on the Democratic ticket. State Rep. Rafael Anchia would be the ideal candidate, but he may be more focused on becoming mayor of Dallas. Former Mayor Laura Miller would also be a good candidate, I think she lost most of her support from the poorer, South side of Dallas; She may fare okay in TX-32. This district is the least Republican of the Texas seats held by a Republican, McCain got 52% in his district this year, Sessions got 57% against a moderate opponent.
We will have a PLETHORA of fun races to watch, from the crowded Governor’s race and the Senate race (please please please let it be DeBore!) to the House races with plenty of GOP-held Obama districts (CA-03, CA-24, CA-25, CA-26, CA-44, CA-45, CA-48, CA-50) and some very vulnerable incumbents (Calvert, Dreier, Lungren, Bilbray) as well as the state legislature, with SD-04 and especially SD-12 our main focus in the Senate, and so many opportunities in the Assembly.
So far it seems our newest Southern Democrats are going to be, shockingly, unreliable. HR 12, the Paycheck Fairness Act, had three Dems voting against: Bobby Bright, Parker Griffith, and Walt Minnick. HR 11, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, had five: Dan Boren, Allen Boyd, Bobby Bright, Travis Childers, and Parker Griffith.
These seem to be the most interesting races for one reason or another – a D+20 district, race, Palin, Arnold and the best swing state there is.
As I noted in the diaries Voinovich is retiring. Who will run? Fisher? Ryan? Sutton? Someone else? And will Portman give it a go and end his political career?
He was one of the 10 repubs who voted with Dems in favor of the Paycheck Fairness Act.
I’m reading Obama lost the district 51%-48%
But you’re right, it is even more critical for that reason. I’m not very worried about New Jersey in 2009. The real fight will be in Virginia.
We have a 104-99 lead there and we have to hold the chamber in 2011 so we can have some say in redistricting. If we lose it, the GOP will have full control of redisticting in this blue state like they did in 2002.
