It’s hardly a surprise, but the Club For Growth’s Andy Harris is giving this Congress thing another shot:
In a fund-raising letter to supporters, Republican state Sen. Andy Harris says he has decided to run again for the 1st Congressional District seat he narrowly lost last year to Democrat Frank Kratovil.
“After talking with my wife, my family and my closes supporters, I’ve decided that I will in fact run for the U.S. Congress once more and am asking you for your help to make this campaign a success.”
On balance, we’re probably better off fending off Harris rather than a fresher face. Rematches — especially ones following a hard-fought open seat battle — are rarely successful for the loser.
Everyone e-mail the Club for Growth and tell them you’ll contribute if they back Harris in 2010.
for the Repub nomination.
he will get a much more friendly district containing the Eastern Shore (where he is strong) and hard core Democratic precincts in Baltimore and Prince Georges.
Should talk with his wife again just to be sure, because I’m pretty sure she really told him that he was crazy to be going through this shit again.
costing the GOP a safe seat in a district that Bush won by 20% that must really grate Harris. He feels it’s his obligation to get the district back. And he will lose again.
This time the Maryland Republican party will be smart enough to rally around 1 Republican from the Eastern Shore. In 2008 Andy Harris won with 41% in a 3-way primary, against 2 Republicans splitting the Eastern Shore vote. In 2010 it will be a 2-way primary and Andy Harris will lose.
The Baltimore suburb where I live (Towson) is very Democratic. But some parts of the Baltimore metro area are very Republican and I don’t understand why. Baltimore is culturally similar to Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia suburbs are very liberal. Northeastern Baltimore County, where Andy Harris lives, is only about 5 miles away from Baltimore City and it’s very Republican. Harford County, bordering Baltimore County on the east, is heavily suburban and a lot of people who live there commute to Baltimore. Harford County gave 58% of its vote to McCain, and 56% of its 1st district vote to Harris. Carrol County, bordering Baltimore County on the west, gave 65% of its vote to McCain.
Go Harris!
Janklow left the scene of the accident and had no memory of the crash. He had a doctor plead “low blood sugar” but goven his record of cover ups what do you think? I am inclined to believe the worst.
If he was not drunk and was just careless and reckless well that may be even worse because he appears to have committed perjury in that case (all thoat testimony where he did not recall what happened).
