NE-03: Scott Kleeb “Exploring”

(Interesting. Kleeb is now actively raising money, and such funds can only be used in a campaign for federal office. What might he have in mind? Another crack at NE-03 (the sixth-most Republican district in the nation, according to its PVI)? Or perhaps he’s angling for a Senate bid should Fahey or Kerrey decline a race? Nebraska: ever the wild card. – promoted by James L.)

The surprise candidate of the 2006 cycle in Nebraska is exploring another run for office in 2008.

From ScottKleeb.com:

As each day passes, I am more and more appreciative of what we accomplished together on our campaign for Congress last year. I can say without a doubt that the campaign was the most rewarding, most energizing and most inspiring endeavor in which I have ever been involved. Since then, I remain excited about our future in Nebraska and am currently exploring several options to continue and expand our campaign.

From Columbus to Scottsbluff, from Valentine to McCook, we sparked a conversation across our district that rejected partisan politics and embraced the common belief among all Nebraskans that together we can create a better life for ourselves and for our children, that we can again believe in that common bond of faith in a democratic process, that we can again believe that our fates are connected and that together we make more of an impact than we can separately.

  1. Yeah, I think it’d be more accurate to add a “NE-Sen” tag after “NE-03”, since Kleeb hasn’t committed to either race  formally or (as far as I can tell) informally.  Otherwise, thanks for the hat tip, Dave 🙂

  2. I think Scott Kleeb is one of the best candidates we’ve had-period.  However, there’s a caveat here.  If he loses twice in a row, he might just be damaged goods and that bright career he had available to him in Nebraska will seem a whole lot darker.  I sure hope that, whatever he decides to do, he comes out on top…for his sake.

  3. I don’t think he’ll be out of options necessarily, even if he runs again and doesn’t win, as long as his effort remains credible and he forces the GOP to spend serious money defending their turf. If a Democrat enters the White House, Kleeb could be rewarded with an executive appointment that would freshen and expand his resume to return to electoral politics later. Deputy Sec in Ag or Interior, or an ambassadorship – he speaks Italian. Add a little gravitas to that dazzling mug, and his possibilities seem limitless.

  4. … Scott Kleeb is devastatingly handsome!!  I’ll be happy to support him in whatever race he runs for.

  5. Kind of inside hope he goes for NE-Sen because he’s a real person, but if he can get the DSCC behind him another run at NE-03 wouldn’t be awful, I just don’t think he can do it.

  6. Is Adrian Smith facing a Primary challenge this year due to hard feelings over the acrimonious 2006 GOP primary?

Doug Lamborn over in Colorado faces such a challenge but I haven’t heard of Adrian Smith facing such a challenge, yet.  Adrian Smith is a darling of the Club of Growth.

Adrian Smith is also reportedly a David Drier knock-off (wink).

  7. He is the hottest guy I have ever seen in politics.  God I hope he wins the Senate seat, have some eye candy up in there.
