BlogAds Reader Survey

BlogAds is running their fourth annual reader survey, and I hope you’ll help us out by participating. You can take the survey by clicking here.

I know the survey is kind of long, but the results are very helpful for us (the proprietors of the Swing State Project) and for potential advertisers. The more that advertisers know about this site’s demographics, the more comfortable they are advertising here. And since ad revenues pay the site’s expenses, we’d like to make sure they keep flowing in.

Even if you only feel like completing part of the survey, that’s still useful. I’d love to get at least 50 responses, so if you have a few minutes to help us out, we’d be extremely grateful. And we’ll be sure to post a summary of the results when they’re available. Thanks!

Exams

I have to write four final exams over the next three days.  (Ugh.)  Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll have time for any blogging at all during the first half of the week.  Sorry about that.

Feel free to use this as an extra open thread.  And, to keep the discussion going, how about we do this:

In the comments, list the 10 most vulnerable House Republican seats and the 10 most vulnerable House Democratic seats in the 2008 election.  Rank each incumbent in order of vulnerability, from most threatened to least.

Have at it!

Server Downtime Alert

The Swing State Project will be undergoing a server upgrade sometime tomorrow.  There’s a strong chance that we’ll be offline for about an hour during the mid-afternoon on Friday, although we don’t know for sure at what exact time the site will be inaccessible.  Sorry for the inconvenience, but like I said, we’ll only be gone for an hour.

If the Site Doesn’t Look Right…

(Bumped. – promoted by James L.)

Do a “hard refresh” in your browser. In Firefox and IE, it’s Ctrl-F5 (or Cmd-F5 on a Mac). Instructions for other browsers are here. (Paul from SoapBlox just installed some upgrades on our back-end, but they might make the front-end look temporarily out-of-whack – hence the hard refresh.)

Taking a Break

The last thing I want to do right now is shut down and take break from blogging, especially with tumultuous recount situations in FL-13 and NC-08, where the very sanctity of voting rights is being put at risk by faulty technology and self-serving motives.  But I have no choice.  I have a mountain of work to finish in the next few weeks, so I’m going to have to take a break from the Swing State Project for a while.  I’d like to again thank David for letting me handle the ropes here over the past half-year, and to all of SSP’s readers for bearing with me.  This was an election cycle that none of us will soon forget, and I’m looking forward to charting a course with you over the next two years for even greater things.

See you sometime in December.

Site Propagation

If you’re reading this entry on the site, then you obviously aren’t having any problems getting here. But the URL switchover is taking time to propagate, so in case you are reading this via an e-mail subscription and can’t get on to the site, please use this direct URL until you can:

http://72.232.224.170/swingstate/frontPage.do

The propagation should hopefully complete within twenty-four hours or so. If you know anyone who can’t get on the site by tomorrow night or Friday morning, please shoot me an e-mail.
