Election night

Long time Swing State Project reader.

First place I turn to for my congressional information and polls.

My question is:

Will Swing state project or anyone else be listing the important house and senate races like they do for the primaries or special election?

If not is there any place that will?

  1. Because I’m guessing there will be too many to list everything. Your best bet is to check out the Race Rating links down yonder to your right to see what is competitive.

  2. In 2006 CNN actually had some outstanding vote trackers on every race in the country.  It was a good place to check up on those key races.

  3. Will SSP be liveblogging the results and posting links to the AP results pages like you guys normally do for primaries and special elections, which is something I’ve been curious about too.

  4. I will of course be watching any live-blogged results, but I’ll also be around on our IRC channel.

And by the way, three people have decided to stop by so far, and one person (from NY-13) has started to hang around.  Hopefully, we can have more people.  Just imagine a 3 AM squeal of victory in a race like FL-Pres or IN-03 or ID-01 or WY-AL or KY-Sen.  Okay, sound doesn’t carry well over IRC, but at least we can type that in big bold letters, and it’s even faster than blog commenting! 😛

Also, on election day eve, we should all submit entries to a competition for predicting vote tallies; for each race, specify how close it will be:

    + wipe (17%+)

    + substantial (12%-17%)

    + weak (7%-12%)

    + lean (2%-7%)

    + close (within 2%)

(each of these descriptors was chosen to avoid having the letters “R” or “D” in them so you can hopefully put them into a spreadsheet and make a macro to color them each way if you with to do so and have more skill than me)

Also, extra points for predicting any election that isn’t decided by the end of the night local time.

We should have a prize for closest presidential predictions, closest senate predictions, and closest house predictions.
