Over all-
John McCain beat Obama 62% to 34% compare that to Bush beating Kerry by 71% to 26%. Obama did 8% better than Kerry. I think in the long run Utah will go blue as it is one of the fastest growing states with a growing number of hispanics.

If Utah keeps on this track we should see a blue Utah one day(lets hope).
By the time I’m 91, which would be somewhere around the 2070s.
Which is still just one step above Southern conservatives in their loyalty to the Republican Party.
And they’re growing in population very fast. Just not quite as fast as other people are moving into the state, for now at least.
Will Utah become more competitive? I believe so. Will it become a blue state? I’ll bet on it becoming a “pink” state (as in, not deep red), but I’ll bet that Idaho and Wyoming go blue first.
Still, these are impressive gains–impressive enough that Matheson’s UT-02 district has been knocked off the charts of top D-held R+ PVI districts (it’s now R+13 or so, and far behind C. Edwards’s, G. Taylor’s, Minnick’s, and Bright’s districts).
