  1. Wondering if we’ll put up a serious challenge to any of Minnesota’s Republicans. Paulsen had a pretty weak quarter, Tinklenberg is still sitting on 450k, haven’t heard anything about MN-02. At least Paulsen should face a strong challenger.

  2. OK-05: Fallin is running for governor.  Is Andrew Rice getting in?

OK-Gov: Who’s getting in for us?  I remember reading that we actually have a decent shot at holding this.

OK-Sen: Coburn may be “lousier” in his fundraising, but is he even beatable, given that we barely able to dent the less-liked Inhofe last year?

  3. Of course I am biased since I am from the district. I just think Beth Krom is a stronger candidate than people expect. I mean a former big city mayor(Irive) who was mayor while the city was proclaimed safest city in America 2 years in a row. You talk about a Democrat who has strong pro-family/ safetly credentials.

I hope that the DCCC and DNC pay attention to this race. I’ve lived in Orange County all my life and there is a real generational shift going on.

  4. Holy cow… this is brutal!

Several Republican members of Congress spoke at Tea Party protests around the country on Wednesday. Some were applauded. Others heckled. But only one, it appears, was booed relentlessly for the entire duration of his speech: Rep. Gresham Barrett of South Carolina.

Barrett, who voted in favor of the $700 billion bailout to stabilize the financial sector, despised by many of the demonstrators, knew what he was getting into. South Carolina grassroots conservatives have been blasting the congressman for months because of his vote on the Bush administration’s bill last October. Previewing his Tea Party speech earlier this week, The Greenville News wrote that Barrett was headed “into the Lion’s Den.”

  5. State Senator Judson Hill (R), who represents East Cobb and Sandy Springs, is going to run for Attorney General.  This is another one of those seats that look horrible for us on paper, but might have a silver lining (Hill’s numbers have been decreasing over the past three elections).  Plus, for us to take the State Senate, we have to do it through seats like this, Seth Harp’s Columbus-area seat, Eric Johnson’s Savannah-area seat, and Ralph Hudgens’ Athens-area seat.

All are open seats in which our underfunded challengers have gotten respectable results (ie. at least 33%) but have strong Republican tilts.

You can also add Preston Smith’s Rome seat and Bill Cowsert’s Athens-area seat, should they become open if and when the incumbents decide to run for something else.

On the bad side, it looks like Democratic State Senator Tim Golden is vacating his Valdosta-seat (judging from where it is, it’s got to be a McCain district) to run for Lieutenant Governor.
