NY-19: Greg Ball Says “Google Me!” – So They Did

And this is what Roll Call found:

Well, for starters, Ball was accused of stalking a former girlfriend, who got a temporary order of protection against him. He’s been accused of posting on the Web misleading photographs of an encampment of illegal immigrants in his legislative district. A dead goat was found recently in his front yard – the work, Ball believes, of Salvadoran gangs who oppose his tough anti-immigration stance – and he’s been sleeping with a 12-gauge shotgun under his bed ever since. And until recently he has been in a vicious blood feud with his political enemies – who by the way, happen to be fellow Republicans.

Oh yes, Ball was also accused of sexually harassing a former Assembly aide. Details of this are scant on the Web, but in his conversation with Roll Call, which borders on the surreal at times, Ball dutifully provides some. The woman, he says, was put up to it by the establishment Republicans who were waging jihad against him. And the bottom line, from his point of view, is that the Assembly Standing Committee on Ethics and Guidance “cleared” him.

Which is technically true. On Oct. 20, 2008, the committee issued a letter – which is available online – saying an investigation into the accusation found that a violation of the Assembly’s Sexual Harassment/Retaliation Policy “was not established.” The committee also makes it a point to say that the statute of limitations on the woman’s accusations had run out, so the Assembly couldn’t have taken any action anyway.

A clean exoneration? Ball likes to think so. Google him – and judge for yourself.

Maybe he should just shut up now.

  1. Greg “Horn” Ball the Xenophobic Teabagger.

That’s going to be a fun race to follow, at least until Hall opens up a 20 point lead and nobody writes about this guy anymore.

  2. Sounds like hes actually doing something right on immigration if these radicals are doing things like this to him.

The only thing here that concerns me is this restraining order from a former girlfriend. Thats creepy.

  3. The media did in fact sensationalize the whole “Restraining Order ordeal” as all the facts were rarely reported.  The truth was that both Ball and his girlfriend took out “Orders of Protection” against each other.  The judge issued a temporary order then dismissed them several days later due to “lack of evidence” and a “mutual withdrawal of charges.”  So it has been blown out of proportion.

The Sexual harassment claim by one of his campaign workers was indeed a smear campaign that too was blown up.  There was hard evidence proving that she was purposely lying or at least “embellishing” as she specifically wrote in an intercepted e-mail, to “Take Greg out.”  To me that whole ordeal was in fact orchestrated since the woman in question was mad at the campaign when she left them because she wanted to work fewer hours and Greg sought someone else.  She was scorned and trying to get at him. As someone who knows her I found her claims to be quite absurd since I know her own demeanor and reputation.  She was not to be believed.

Greg’s biggest problems come from within his own staff.  He is constantly being blindsided by issues of his own staff.  In the past some of his crew stole e-mails and information which was turned over to his opponents and there are even taped recordings of staff members informing on his policy decisions to the Republican party heads.  Now we are seeing numerous filing problems stemming again from his staff.  They are consistently missing filing deadlines mandated by the state and FEC and there never seems to be an adequate answer.  Worse, these problems keep happening.  Greg seems to be putting too much responsibility in the hands of folks who cannot or do not understand the processes.  This is going to kill him.

John Hall is a charismatic and well respected Congressman even if he does spend like a drunken sailor.  It was easy for Greg to knockout a chump like John Degnan in the District race but against Hall he will need his A++++ game and so far it doesn’t look like he is even close.

Ball may be smeared quite frequently by those who’s agenda he threatens but he will not survive clerical errors against someone as formidable as Hall.
