As always, we’d like to hear your predictions for tonight’s elections. Can Elaine Marshall make it across the finish line in North Carolina, or is a Cal Cunningham upset in the making? Will Crazed Wingnut A or Crazed Wingnut B (or Shameless RINO, as he’s known at RedState) prevail in Utah? Will the Colbert Bump (TM) help Bob Inglis stave off elimination?
Closing times for tonight:
• South Carolina: 7 pm ET
• North Carolina: 7:30 pm ET
• Mississippi: 7 pm CT (8 pm ET)
• Utah: 8 pm MT (10 pm ET)
• California: 8 pm PT (11 pm ET)
We’ll be starting the liveblogging in a couple hours. In the meantime, if you have any links to local sites for election results, please let us know in the comments, too!
Here in NC, my perception is that all of the momentum in the last month has been for Cunningham. That includes me – I voted for Marshall in May and Cunningham today after learning more about both candidates and watching the debates.
As for some of the other races…
– Sadly, I think Harold Johnson will win in NC-08, 65-35.
– In SC, Haley will win with about 70% of the vote, and I’ll go with Thurmond, Duncan, and Gowdy in the GOP House races. Thurmond and Duncan’s races will be within single digits, but I expect Gowdy to win in a blowout.
– I’ll go with Mike Lee in Utah, 55-45, since he seems to be the favorite of the extreme right. Matheson should win his primary handily – I’ll say 65-35.
Is there anything there today?
Landslide wins for Haley in SC-Gov and Gowdy in SC-03.
I think Marshall will win in NC-Sen. Marshall and Cunningham diverged on Afghanistan, with Marshall wanting a pullout while Cunningham wanted to continue. The McChrystal mess might push people to Marshall.

I like Marshall but her debate performance did not go over well.

You can’t fix crazy, and I will give some credit to the GOP in thinking that they are not completely stupid.
Haley-62%
Barret-38%
Haley will do fine. If she somehow lost I would eat my own leg.
Gowdy-61%
Inglis-39%
Sadly Inglis, a principled conservative, will lose badly tonight. Shame on the Republicans for not sticking up for one of their own.
Bridgewater-53%
Lee-47%
Utah Republicans are more sane than we give them credit for.
Matheson-59%
Wright-41%
Matheson will face some pushback over his HCR vote but it will not be that serious.
I do not know enough about the California special to make a call.
