  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v

Aesthetically, I like the background music in both, the use of maps and that folding out/ swinging of the campaign name.

I think these two could easily make it to DC with the type of ads they are pumping out.

As a side note, are Video embeds not allowed anymore in the comments?  It said Disallowed HTML attribute when I tried to paste Hodes’ ad in there.

  2. …to have a meaningful chance to win.

And you said “latest” ad, implying he aired one or more previously?  If so, I never saw those, could someone please link?

I’m holding out hope that with all the crazy-ass election results destroying the CW and even the closest insiders’ expectations, this one could end up being a pleasant surprise for us.

Finally, this is a great soft bio intro ad, but McAdams will need to tie his persona into an issue and position contrast against Miller.

  3. Is contemplating running two ads Sen Stevens cut for her a couple of days before the plane crash that claimed his life. That could be pretty dicey. Murkowski does consider Stevens her political mentor and she was one of the very few who stuck beside him during his court issues.

McAdams needs to round up and hold on to the Democrat vote in Alaska, which is probably around 40% (with indie Dem leaners), and leave the other 60% to be fought over by Murkowski and Miller, hoping they split it with both getting over 20%.

  4. I’m torn. What’s more likely of these two main trains of thought on this race?

    1) McAdams & Murkowski splitting the “rational” vote. Enhancing Miller’s chances.

    or

    2) Miller & Murkowski splitting the Repub/conservative vote. Enhancing McAdams chances.

(PS. Nice McAdams ad. And it’s his first TV ad ever? Great.)

  5. She’s showing this ad right now saying how Dems are running local campaigns, vs. the national campaigns being run by many GOPers (in this case Joe Miller)

  6. In a quirky way. It’s definitely not a typical ad, but it actually works quite well. This is now on my Top 5 list of Best Positive Ads of 2010.

  7. McAdams primary message seems to be that it is his job to transfer money from taxpayers in the other 49 states to his state, even though Alaska already receives a disproportionately huge level of federal spending.  How you folks that live in the other 49 states think this benefits you is beyond me.

  8. He probably shored up some support in Petersburg. And I like that he used real Norwegian too.

The skipper said: “Nu må du komma deg ut!” It means “Get out of here!” and is said in a broad coastal Norwegian dialect. Very cool 🙂
