I was thinking about who the hell the Bush administration would bring in for AG once “The Great Gonzales” retires and I had a horrifying thought. It’s a wonderfully terrible idea that could either save or destroy them. Here goes . . . Attorney General George “Hakuna Macaca” Allen. The guys a lawyer and a loyal “Bushie” in need of a job. If he serves as AG for the next two years, he’d have a better chance of claiming a senate seat should warner retire. The question is, what would this do for/to the Whitehouse? On the one hand allen will probably attract more scandals than a lighting rod attracts lightning. On the other hand, IT’S GEORGE ALLEN AS ATTORNEY GENERAL!!!!!!!!!!! Some may say that while he’s a lawyer, he’s not the most qualified. Exactly, he’s a bushie. That’s why I’m worried about him getting the job. What effect if any would this have, should it come to pass?

Sharpton for… Senate?
This is only thinking on my part, but it seems that rather than having Al Sharpton running of prez, which it looks like he’s going to, have him run for Lindsey Gramm’s seat.
We don’t have much of a chance at this seat anyway, he may be a bit of a maverick, but they still like their repubs down in SC. What Sharpton has is the angle, he’d be running for the seat once held by the man who owned his ancestors. It would generate plenty of media attention and would certainly give him a better chance than any of the sacrificial lambs the SC legislature would throw out at him. Now, I know what many of you are thinking “he’d be too controversial, he’d galvanize the republicans.” Hillary Clinton wouldn’t do that? Even if he did galvanize the republicans, their electoral votes are in their court (maybe not if Edwards is the nom, but he probably won’t be) as are both senate seats, both houses of the legislature, (by wide margins in the house) and all but two of their congressman. Even if Sharpton did Galvanize the right, it wouldn’t do much, and it might even be off set by an increased surge in the African American vote. At the very least, it keep him out of the presidential race and prevents splitting the African American vote harming Obama. No offense to Sharpton, but if you’re going to run for president, GET ELECTED TO SOMETHING ELSE FIRST! That’s why the republicans didn’t back Steve Forbes or Keyes.
Mark Warner considering Senate race
According to the Washington post, (link http://blog.washingt…) former presidential possibility mark warner is considering a run at Virginia’s senate seat in 2008. He’s spoken with Chuck Schumer repeatedly, and will not rule out a run, with or without Senator John Warner running. If (Mark) Warner does indeed run, this would be momentous. For one, it’s another senate seat that opens up, possibly expanding our majority. Two, he might bring out voters and maybe even put Virginia into the dems column in the prez race for the first time since 1964. It could also bring out voters and get other house candidates elected in Virginia. This would be a top-tier race (Assuming both Warners run, mark Vs another candidate, such as Rep Tom Davis might lean more to our favor) and his running would have immense repercussions come 08. Let’s hope he dives in!
