NY-19: More GOP Recruitment Follies

The GOP continues to hit brick walls when it comes to House recruitment.

First, uber-wealthy businessman Andrew Saul aborted his bid to topple frosh Dem Rep. John Hall after some light was shed on some very shady donations to his campaign.  Now, former Assemblyman Howard Mills, a moderate Republican who some thought could wage a competitive campaign, says that Team Red can count him out.

Just a wild guess: Mills probably didn’t want to be associated with the troglodytes in the House GOP caucus.

  1. whenever you start researching the up and coming republican candidate for the NY-19… they drop out.

I mean, the list is really starting to thin… Lalor? A wingnut?

    Ball?

I mean, someone in the district paid for a poll recently… but candidates keep getting crossed off the list.

  2. For the long run. He’ll survive the next election and maybe face a close race in 2010. After that, he’ll be put in a safer seat, maybe given larger parts of Ulster or Westchester Counties to make him safer.

2010 is the one time the GOP can defeat him. If the GOP is still down then, he’ll stick around for the long run.
