Congressman elect Cao is behind schedule so the show will be a little later this afternoon. We will try and give a 10-15 minute notice
We are doing a podcast with Joseph Cao (LA-02) this afternoon. We will be focusing on Cao becoming the first Vietnamese-American Congressman. Fascinating story.

Why did we allow this to happen??!! Why didn’t we take care of Jefferson during the primary? Why didn’t the DCCC fund the challenger in the primary? He was such an embarrassment… And now a Republican represents this district?
EPIC FAIL.
No hard feeling on my end. The guy ran a solid, underfunded campaign and made history by becoming the first Vietnamese-American elected to Congress. At the very least he sounds like he’s an honest and ethical man and has a very interesting, somewhat tragic personal story. In the end the better man won the race.
we will try again later in the week.
If Cao switched parties. Could you imagine the howls from the GOP if Cao came out and changed parties? This would be great vindication. Cao appears to be somewhat reasonable, and he could probably help out his district more if he jumped ship.
That being said, I doubt that he’d switch parties.
I suppose there is a very small chance he could switch parties, vote very progressive on economic issues, vote the interests of the black majority in the district and slip through what is likely to be a very crowded democratic primary in 2010 as Steve Cohen did in TN-09. But that’s a LOT of “if’s.”
for the sake of his district he should flip-pelosi will sit him on plum cmtes for n.o.
