Doc’s Political Parlor deserves some major props for releasing an awesome election directory of every race and every candidate for the Alabama state House in 2010. Not only that, they provide SSP/Cook-style race ratings for all 105 House districts in the state, which really goes a long way toward giving a novice like myself on Alabama politics a quick primer on the states’s key downballot battles.
This is the sort of thing that I’d like to see more state blogs attempt to do. It’s extremely difficult to follow state legislative races in all 50 states, but if every major state blog poured the time and resources into a Political Parlor-style legislative election directory/race ratings project, the benefits would be incalculable.
UPDATE (David): Nice seeing everyone looking to get in on the action! BTW, Doc’s guide to state Senate races is here.
That is inspiring me to make a comprehensive directory list of all the state legislative races in California!
Louisiana unless you’re in the beltway. Theirs something and its called like the alligator report or something, but you have to pay a sizable membership fee and its more like a roll call thing.
No serious Hawaii political blogs that I know of, but I would be up for sharing my chart here with all of you.
probably closer to the actual election as these things take awhile to evolve and are more time consuming if your not a full time political reporter. But I’ll get Minnesota covered before the election.
I’d love to see this in every state.
For State Senate and State House races.
Although not as in-depth their are several different parts to their series on winning back the state house:
Part I
Part II
Part III
Part IV is to come plus more…
I can’t say that there’s much point to doing this for Virginia, since beyond the 25 or so races that I covered in my diary, I doubt any will be competitive.
