  1. I haven’t seen people say much about it. Is it a pickup opportunity, or is there just something special about this district?

  3. Nice to see Lori Edwards finally pick it up. Melissa Bean also looks in decent shape. Same goes for Bill Foster and Bob Etheridge. Despite Republican fantasies Nikki Tsongas, Carolyn McCarthy and Solomon Ortiz also look fine.

Tom Marino, Dan Kapanke and Scott Desjarlais don’t have much CoH.

  4. West has been sitting on a lot of his money as well.  I guess he’s planning some sort of last minute ad blitz, but I’ve seen Klein dominating the airways.  I don’t know why West hasn’t spent more on advertising up to this point.  Stupid, if you ask me.

  5. I hit the highlights at Bleeding Heartland (how much each candidate raised from individuals, PACs and self-funding as well as expenditures and cash on hand).

Roxanne Conlin has stayed fairly competitive with Grassley on fundraising from individuals, but she unwisely announced last year that she wouldn’t take PAC money. That plus the huge cash on hand total Grassley brought into this race has left her outgunned.

The U.S. House incumbents in Iowa all raised more in contributions than their challengers. MMM’s big personal loan helped her bring in a bit more than Loebsack for the quarter, but he still had more cash on hand as of September 30.

  6. Fundraising has become irrelevant in top-tier races, but not as much in second and third-tier races that get less attention.

  7. VA Dems got killed this quarter. How the hell did they get outraised so badly? From this and from living in the district I think that Connolly is in serious danger.

  8. I know this is in the weeds in a race that is on no ones radar, but I was just crunching the FEC numbers and found another Dem with more CoH for a GOP open seat:

    In OK-5:

    Jeff Cloud (D)     $42,607 CoH

    James Lankford (R) $11,119 CoH

Lankford overall has raised a lot more than Cloud, but he seems to have burned through it all leaving his piggy bank empty in the home stretch.  Might be some measuring the curtains or maybe just Lankford pre-bought all his media and lit.

The district is the Oklahoma City open seat R+13 which is the same as Lincoln Davis, Bart Gordon, and Frank Kratovil and slightly more Democratic than the districts of Dan Boren, Travis Childers, and Ike Skelton.  Certainly a hard target in this environment, but interesting that Lankford seems to have Martha Coakley level curtain measuring going on.
